Obsidian's spin on the Fallout formula distinguishes itself through its intricate role-playing systems and consequential storytelling. The game thrives on player agency, offering branching narratives and impactful choices that genuinely alter the Mojave Wasteland. Its strength lies in its diverse factions, each with unique motivations and quests, creating a world where alliances shift and morality is constantly challenged, providing a sense of ownership over the narrative's direction that few RPGs rival.

About Fallout: New Vegas

Details
In this first-person Western RPG, the player takes on the role of Courier 6, barely surviving after being robbed of their cargo, shot and put into a shallow grave by a New Vegas mob boss. The Courier sets out to track down their robbers and retrieve their cargo, and winds up getting tangled in the complex ideological and socioeconomic web of the many factions and settlements of post-nuclear Nevada.

While more linear in its narrative, Metro Exodus provides a grim, post-apocalyptic journey across a desolate Russian landscape, blending intense first-person shooting with survival elements and a strong sense of place.

Why recommended

  • Engaging first-person Shooter combat against mutated creatures and hostile human factions, with weapon customization and a focus on resource scarcity and stealth.
